The Street: Curator’s Talk: Grant Arnold
Dig deeper into the themes, artists, and works of significance presented in the current exhibition ‘The Street.’

Join Grant Arnold, Audain Curator of British Columbia Art at the Vancouver Art Gallery, for a thought-provoking talk, followed by a question-and-answer period led by Christine May, Curator at the Kelowna Art Gallery.

‘The Street’ is drawn from the Vancouver Art Gallery’s permanent collection and includes notable Canadian and international artists such as Roy Arden, Robert Capa, Allyson Clay, Robert Linsley, Jeff Wall, and Lawrence Paul Yuxweluptun, among others. ‘The Street’ presents thematic views of the urban street as a source of inspiration for artists and as a primary site for the enactment of culture.

Grant Arnold is Audain Curator of British Columbia Art at the Vancouver Art Gallery, where he contributes to the Gallery’s exhibition and collecting program. Over the past twenty years, he has organized more than forty exhibitions of historical, modern, and contemporary art, and contributed to countless publications. Recent exhibition projects include Everything Under the Sun: In Memory of Andrew Gruft; Dana Claxton: Fringing the Cube; Kevin Schmidt: We Are the Robots; Pictures From Here; Susan Point: Spindle Whorl (with Ian Thom); Rodney Graham: A Little Thought; among many others.

‘The Street’ is on view until February 12, 2023. It is presented with support from Engel & Volkers Okanagan – Richard Deacon. It was organized and circulated by the Vancouver Art Gallery and curated by Grant Arnold.
