Personality Disorders: What am I supposed to do now?

Personality Disorders have long been an enigma for therapists. What do you do? How do you identify them with any clarity? Is there any treatment for clients living with them? This training will give an overview of current thought on Personality Disorders and their diagnosis. It will look at diagnosis based upon the DSM 5, and will review current research on viable treatments currently available. Time will be spent on looking at Borderline Personality Disorder, what is known about its origins, impairments, biology, and treatment, and how to remove the stigma associated with the diagnosis.

Understand complications of PDs

Learn reasons clients with Personality Disorders enter therapy

Tools for talking with a client about the diagnosis of BPD

Ways to engage BPD clients in therapy

Examine what is best practice/evidence based practice for personality disorders

Learn how to take care of yourself when treating personality disorder

This webinar is approved by the Oklahoma State Board of Licensed Social Workers provider #20220014 and will serve as Category 1 credits for all social workers in Oklahoma.

Emilie has a Bachelor's Degree in Social Science - Psychology from Marylhurst University, and a Master's Degree in Counseling Psychology from Lewis and Clark College, Graduate School of Professional Studies. She has worked in Community Mental Health and had a private practice. She learned Dialectical Behavioral Therapy from it's developer, Dr. Marsha Linehan. She has run DBT programs in various agencies and has trained multiple clinicians in its use. At The Grief Center she works with adults and teens, both with individual and group therapy, as well as presents multiple CEU trainings throughout the year.
