Employers’ Masterclass: Using Apprenticeships to improve social mobility and build skills for life
Our next masterclass will explore the role of apprenticeships and how they can drive social mobility and develop skills for individuals and the workforce.

Employers and training providers rely on apprenticeship schemes to provide new opportunities, upskill people from inside and outside their organisation and contribute to a more innovative, inclusive workforce. One of the many benefits of apprenticeships is their unmatched potential for boosting social mobility and for helping employers to build more diverse and skilled workforces.

Join us as we celebrate National Apprenticeship Week (6th – 12th of February 2023). The theme for this year is ‘Skills for Life’, reflecting on how apprenticeships can help individuals to develop the skills and knowledge required for a rewarding career, and businesses to develop a talented workforce that is equipped with future-ready skills.

For this session, the SMC will be joined by Harry Morgan, Skills for Jobs Lead, Microsoft who will be sharing the experience of the Microsoft apprenticeship programme and how it has empowered almost 30,000 apprentices since it was founded in 2010, to build a career in technology and digital.

We will also be joined by Jessica Leigh Jones, Co-Founder and CEO, iungo Solutions, who authored L&D’s Role in enabling Social Mobility, in collaboration with the Open University, to discuss the role of apprenticeships in upskilling individuals and workforces to help solve key skill gaps.
