Undocumented students face unique challenges in their journey to college that often require support from parents, mentors, counselors and community partners. In this webinar we will explore how best to help students who are undocumented. We will clarify citizen, non-citizen, undocumented and DACA status and what financial aid and scholarships are available.

We will then hear from Oscar Portillo, a brillilant UnidosNow Future Leaders Academy scholar who navigated the challenges of a complex system to pursue his BA in Political Science and Economics at the University of South Florida. He will share his insights and his success story, from discovering he was undocumented to changing his status and achieving his dream of higher education.

In this webinar you will learn:
- The unique challenges undocumented students face, including often not knowing they are undocumented until they start the college-going process
- The different types of citizenship status and what that means in terms of the financial aid available to them
- How best to support students from one who maneuvered through the system
- The state resources available to undocumented students
- How community organizations and school districts can partner to provide comprehensive support

This program is designed for school counselors and college access partners and will run 1 ½ hours long to accommodate audience questions.
