Using the Reasonable Accommodation Process to Protect Older Tenants Living with Disabilities (Part One)
Many older tenants have physical and/or mental disabilities that affect their ability to rent, use, and enjoy their housing. California landlords have a duty to provide disabled tenants with reasonable accommodations so that they can have equal access to their housing and maintain their tenancies.
In this two-part training, Using the Reasonable Accommodation Process to Protect Older Tenants Living with Disabilities, civil rights attorneys from Disability Rights California will provide an overview of the law prohibiting landlords, property managers, and others from discriminating against anyone on the basis of disability. This training will focus on the right to a reasonable accommodation or modification in housing and how to exercise these rights. Participants will learn how to advocate for accommodations that ensure equal access to housing for tenants with disabilities, and how to use these tools to defend against evictions.

Who Should Participate: Legal services attorneys, elder advocates, and housing and community health counselors in California.
