Dr. Melissa Mednicov: Listening to Pop Art: Then and Now
Join Associate Professor and writer Melissa Mednicov as she takes viewers through an exciting lecture titled, "Listening to Pop Art: Then and Now"

Her lecture will look at and listen to the Gallery’s current art exhibition "From Warhol to Banksy". Through the interdisciplinary approach of Jukebox Modernism, the audience will learn how to understand Pop art through its music and sounds.

Melissa L. Mednicov is Associate Professor at Sam Houston State University. She received her Ph.D. and M.A. in art history from Pennsylvania State University and her B.A. in art history from Smith College. Her book, "Pop Art and Popular Music: Jukebox Modernism" (2018) published with Routledge, offers an interdisciplinary approach to Pop art scholarship through a recuperation of popular music into art historical understandings of the movement.

This lecture is organized in collaboration with 'From Warhol to Banksy,' which features over 120 works by artists Roy Lichtenstein, Andy Warhol, Tom Wesselmann, Takashi Murakami, Banksy, and Mr. Brainwash. This exhibition is on display until October 16, 2022.
