Returning to school after summer vacation is often tricky for kids as they have been out of routine and perhaps nervous about seeing friends, unused to early starts and sitting still which can all take quite a bit of resettling. Last year has been hugely disrupted and there may be pressure on both teachers and students alike to catch up and make up for lost time. As the world continues to deal with the ongoing consequences of COVID-19, this could make this back-to-school transition even tricker due to further disruption and uncertainty.
This session will focus on how to help kids feel welcome and secure back at school, which routines are helpful to establish and the importance of reachable expectations. We will also be touching on how to go about making school a comfortable and safe place to be for students and teachers alike and when external help may be required in certain circumstances.
