Description:
This talk will give an overview of Hepatitis C Virus (HCV) epidemiology, disparities, and national screening efforts.  Hepatitis C is a leading cause of liver cancer and liver transplants nationwide, and HCV related mortality rates in American Indians and Alaska Natives are higher than any other race/ethnicity. 

Our speakers will cover USPSTF/CDC HCV screening recommendations as well as treatment services at other IHS, Tribal and Urban clinics and health centers.  Speakers will discuss how to make use of remote specialist services available specifically to IHS, Tribal and Urban clinics at no charge via telehealth and teleconsultation services. 

Lastly, we'll have clinical informaticists support live TA with demonstrations on how to "turn on" screening reminders, and patient panel management for our IHS, Tribal and Urban clinic partners.

Physicians, nurses, health educators, administrators, and support staff working with American Indian and/or Alaska Native communities.
