Join British classical pianist Alisdair Hogarth for a series of THREE live masterclasses focusing on practical tips and advice for returning to the piano!
Your ticket gives you access to all three sessions. If you missed the first two live sessions, you will receive access to the recordings once you sign up.
MASTERCLASS 1: Revisiting the basics (ONLINE RECORDING)
✔ Hand position, posture, the basic elements of good technique
✔ Help with how to improve note reading
✔ How to improve sight-reading
MASTERCLASS 2: Piano fitness (ONLINE RECORDING)
✔ How to develop flexibility and strength through a concise technical exercise regime
✔ Demonstration of a piano exercises routine
✔ Other things that can be done away from the keyboard to help
MASTERCLASS 3: Improvising and playing popular music (LIVE ON 22 MARCH)
✔ Will include a discussion with pianist Dominic Ferris about how to approach improvising if you have had no experience in it
✔ How to adjust arrangements of songs to make them work on the piano
◼️ Each masterclass is approx. 1 hour long and will include a Q&A. Attendees are not required to perform. Simply bring yourselves and a notepad, and you are good to go.
◼️ If you own a piano, we would recommend that you watch the masterclass nearby in case you would like to give some of Alisdair's demonstrations a go yourself.

He made his concerto debut in 1996 with the London Philharmonic Orchestra at the Queen Elizabeth Hall and has since performed with a variety of orchestras. Hogarth has broadcast for BBC Radio 3 and Classic FM. Performances have included recitals at Wigmore Hall, Cadogan Hall, Bridgewater Hall and Philharmonic Hall. Committed to song-accompaniment, Hogarth is the Director and pianist of The Prince Consort. They made their Wigmore Hall debut in 2009 in which they were joined by Graham Johnson. Their first recording for Linn, Ned Rorem – On an echoing road –, was Gramophone Editor’s Choice in addition to being named ‘Outstanding’ in International Record Review. Hogarth studied privately with Philip Fowke and at the Royal College of Music with John Blakely where he won the major prizes for piano accompaniment. He is a Steinway Artist.
