He co-founded Picochip, the pioneer behind 'baseband processors for femtocells/small cells', and was CTO from inception to company exit. In Doug's broad wireless career, he has not only worked in semiconductors but for an infrastructure manufacturer, an operator, and a regulator with experience at Intel, AT&T/Lucent, Vodafone and OFCOM. Doug holds a PhD in coverage techniques for wireless networks from the University of Bath and an Masters degree in Psychology specialising in cognitive neuropsychology. He is the inventor of multiple patents in wireless techniques in CDMA, OFDM and mmWave radar. Caroline Gabriel (Co-Founder and Research Director @Rethink Research) Caroline Gabriel is Co-Founder of Rethink Technology Research and its Research Director. She is also the Content Director of the Small Cell Forum and a Research Director at Analysys Mason. She is expert in wireless and mobile technologies, markets and business models and has led Rethink’s wireless research programmes since the company’s inception in 2002. Her particular areas of expertise are the technologies and economics of 5G RAN and core, virtualised RAN, Open RAN, small cells, network automation, wireless network optimisation and experience. She has led consulting assignments for a wide range of stakeholders including Tier 1 operators, equipment vendors, regulators, policy makers and investment companies. Paul Senior (Founder and Chairman @DenseAir) Paul Senior is Founder and Chairman of Dense Air. With more than 35 years of experience in the radio telecommunication industry, he has held senior management positions at Airspan Networks, Nortel, Alcatel, DSC Communications, Plessey Research, and GEC Telecoms, spanning the eras of 2G, 3G, and 4G. A renowned small cell evangelist, he participated in the creation of the WiMAX Forum in 2002 and is active in many industry bodies focused on Open RAN, small cells, and the evolution to standalone 5G New Radio. While chief technology officer at Airspan, he was responsible for the mass deployment of small cell LTE solutions for Sprint in the United States and Reliance Jio in India. Paul holds various patents for technical innovations throughout his career. Tareq Amin (CEO @Rakuten Mobile & Rakuten Symphony) Tareq joined Rakuten Group in 2018 as the first chief technology officer of Rakuten Mobile and led the design and roll-out in Japan of the world’s first fully virtualized cloud-native mobile network. In 2021, Amin was appointed as chief executive officer of Rakuten Symphony, a Rakuten Group company launched in August 2021 with a vision to reimagine telecom for a hyperscale era, delivering the convergence of IT and telecom networks. In 2022, Amin was appointed as chief executive officer of Rakuten Mobile to ignite the next stage of growth in Japan and drive synergies between the global business and Rakuten Mobile. With a career in the mobile network industry spanning almost two decades, prior to joining Rakuten in 2018, Amin was Senior Vice President of Technology Development and Automation for Reliance Jio.
