The American Geophysical Union (AGU) Hydrology Section Student Subcommittee (H3S) will be hosting two panel discussions this August and September!
Navigating Academic Waters: Succeeding as a Postdoc
Thursday, August 11th from 1-2pm EST
Postdoctoral training is a unique opportunity to undertake independent research, expand your research interests, and make significant progress toward your desired career path. In this webinar, we sit down with panelists, including current and former postdocs, to discuss their experience finding a postdoc position, as well as tips on how to be a successful postdoc. This webinar will help all early career researchers better understand where/how to apply for a postdoc as a graduate student and how to excel in the position once you have it. If you have specific questions or topics that you would like the panel to address, send us them in advance using this link: https://forms.gle/GoZwDNnikeqQdnUdA
Navigating Non-Academic Waters: A Hydrology Jobs Panel
Thursday, September 8 from 11-12pm EST
Do you want to learn more about hydrology jobs outside of the traditional university setting? Graduate school equips students with many skills that are transferable and in demand outside of non-academic spaces. However, much of the career advice students receive is geared towards saying in an academic position. Four panelists will be available to answer community questions about their careers, ranging from government research positions to industry and environmental consulting. The conversation will be relevant for many career stages, whether you are a student seeking job opportunity information or a professional interested in switching to a non-academic job related to water.
