A Toolkit’s Educational Resources to Increase Prehospital Pediatric Readiness for EMS Educators
This presentation will introduce the EMS educator to a toolkit of resources for creating a pediatric-ready EMS workforce. The resources within the education and competencies for providers section of the Prehospital Pediatric Readiness Toolkit have been curated by a comprehensive team of stakeholders and will be useful to all dedicated to delivering high-quality pediatric prehospital education. The toolkit’s educational section is divided into psychomotor, behavioral, and cognitive skills. Within this presentation, we will demonstrate options available in the toolkit for educating EMS providers on each of these skill types. Examples we plan to review include an article using both descriptions and video-based techniques to teach behavioral skills to communicate with a frightened child, Pediatric SimBox/TeleSimBox which aims to teach and develop cognitive and psychomotor skills in the EMS workforce, and a series of videos teaching psychomotor skills that can be used in the classroom or for just in-time-education on shift. (These examples were just randomly chosen as different modalities to present so can substitute for others)
