The Journey - Exploring the Myth of “Hard-to-Reach Families”: Maximizing Family Partnership Through Communication and Trust

Family Engagement must be intentional and inclusive to reach all of the families we work and serve. With that in mind, there are times where schools have trouble connecting with some families, leading educators to believe that thin that these families are “hard-to-reach” or not engaged in their child’s learning. In this webinar you will learn more about the “myth of hard-to-reach families”, as proposed by Dr. Karen Mapp and Dr. Soo Hong, and core beliefs to move past that myth. Thomas Capretta from The Ohio Statewide Family Engagement Center at The Ohio State University will focus on family-friendly communication tools and strategies in a Multi-Tiered Systems of Supports (MTSS) framework to organize and improve your school-home communication to reach all families.
