Building with Nature was launched in 2017 in order to make high-quality green infrastructure integral to placemaking in the UK; maximising benefits for both people and the natural environment. The Building with Nature Standards are available for use in the planning and design of every type and scale of built development across the UK, including new schemes and retrofit of existing places. In this webinar, members of the team behind Building with Nature will share their insight into what it has achieved to date. Through practical how-to guidance and drawing on findings from their UK-wide case studies, they will show how it is possible to deliver the levelling-up agenda through a clear and measurable commitment to design quality and placemaking, recognising that “place affects all of us”. A project that has applied the Building with Nature (BwN) Standards can evidence that it has enhanced and optimised nature, in line with the National Model Design Code, and is committed to delivering homes and communities that are resilient to the climate and ecological emergency – demonstrating practical responses to Net Zero, Net Gains and ESG demands on development – without compromising on the need to create places that bring delight and beauty, and support people’s health and wellbeing.
