- A Case Study of Yichang City and International Experience Exchange
Population aging’s escalating economic and social costs in Asia and globally is attracting growing attention from policy makers and researchers, reflecting the importance of maximizing the socioeconomic contributions of the elderly to ensure sustainable development. The development of welfare and support systems that can accommodate aging populations is increasingly urgent, but is complicated, in part, by differences from traditional familial care practices.
Cohosted by ADBI and the Asian Development Bank (ADB) this virtual forum will explore elderly care system development challenges and opportunities in Asia and related policy issues. It will feature a case study of Yichang City, which has been a focus of ADB’s holistic elderly care system development support, a south-south knowledge sharing workshop, and thematic workshops.
