Health systems recovery from COVID-19: Working across the humanitarian-development-peace nexus

COVID-19 has had an enormous impact on health and healthcare across the world. The surge in demand for healthcare as a result of the pandemic has put pressure on health systems, and the reorganisation and scaleup of services in response to the crisis, has led to disruptions in service delivery and the normal functioning of health systems. As a result, there is likely to be an increase in health needs, which health systems, particularly in fragile and conflict affected settings (FCAS) may be ill-equipped to cope with, since they are often already weak and/or dysfunctional. Recovery from COVID-19 provides an opportunity to build back better and create more fit-for-purpose health systems. However, in FCAS, where there is a multiplicity of actors working independently and in silos, with different mandates, funding sources, there is a need for coordinated action. Given that the Humanitarian, Development, Peace Nexus approach can facilitate this coordination, this webinar has been organised to discuss how the approach can be adopted and applied to health systems recovery from COVID-19 in FCAS.
