Joliet Junior College Community Band Winter Concert
The Joliet Junior College Community Band will present its annual Winter Concert on Sunday, December 5, at 3:00 p.m. in the Joliet Junior College Fine Event Center at 1215 Houbolt Road. This concert is dedicated to the memory of Jeff McMillin. Jeff was a founding member of the JJC Community Band for over 40 years. The band is under the direction of Charles Morgan, Music Coordinator and Director of Bands at Joliet Junior College.

This concert will offer something for everyone: marches, transcriptions, and original compositions for band. The first half will include “The Footlifter” an exciting march by Henry Fillmore, and “Symphony of Prayer” a beautiful four movement work for concert band.
Our second half will begin with “Circus Bandwagon” a playful march by Merle Evans; the first five movements of “Pictures at an Exhibition” by Modest Moussorgsky including I. Promenade, II. The Old Castle, III. Tuileries, IV. Bydlo, V. Ballet of the Unhatched Chickens; We will then start the seasonal celebration with “Sparkling Lights” by Matt Conaway; “Bugler’s Holiday” by Leroy Anderson dedicated to the memory of Jeff McMillin; “Nativity Carol” a gorgeous setting of one of my favorite John Rutter compositions; “A Festive Christmas” is a medley of traditional carols by Kenny Bierschenk; We will then wrap up the concert with “Sleigh Ride” by Leroy Anderson.
