June is Men’s Health Month, a time to highlight the different precautions men can take to prioritize their health and prevent future issues. In this month’s webinar, Anthony Campobasso, LCSW, CADC, CIP will address the stigma of being a “real man” that men often encounter in a treatment setting. It is a common myth/phrase that “real men” can’t express themselves openly for fear of rejection. We will explore the need for wellness while encouraging men to surrender their defenses and embrace vulnerability.
Addiction and other maladaptive behaviors are the pitfalls when the recovery process or proper self-care is not initiated. Treatment is a “healthy environment” to start the recovery journey from a whole-health perspective. It both promotes treatment as a learning experience and the recovery process.
Highlights of discussion:
- Toxic masculinity and unhealthy lifestyles
- Social change
- Unnecessary pressure
- Unspoken Trauma
- Creating a healthy environment
