UAR Oceania Openness Webinar #7: openness on non-rodent and "specially protected" species.
Date & Time
Selected Sessions:
Apr 19, 2024 04:00 AM
Description
For signatories of the Australia and New Zealand Openness Agreements on Animal Research and Teaching, and those still considering signing up. This webinar includes ideas for getting started, what to expect, the support and advice available.
This webinar will follow on from last month's webinar about working with unusual or 'non-lab' species, but will specifically consider animal research involving companion animals including dogs, cats and horses or species of particular concern such as non-human primates. In some jurisdictions these animals are "specially protected" to ensure that public concerns about their well-being are met. There are also great concerns among the research community about the acceptability of working with these animals, and what is reasonable in terms of openness when the sensitivities are considered.
How does working with particular animals change the approach to openness?
Bella and Jodi will share examples and learning, gathered over decades, of how to approach openness when the primary challenge has related to the species used in research.
This webinar will be live at the time stated, and the session recording will be available to all for 72 hours after the end of the webinar. You will need to register to view the recording.
All past webinars are available to UAR Oceania members through the video portal. If you work for a member organisation and are unsure how to access these, please contact Bella Lear.
