Implications of Working as a Sign Language Interpreter During & Post COVID-19

The COVID-19 pandemic has resulted in significant psychological and neuropsychological repercussions. We will discuss the implications of the infamous virus, including potential treatment options. The workshop will be taught in ASL and will be conducted via Zoom. Participants will demonstrate an understanding of the psychological and neuropsychological implications of COVID-19 - including its treatment options - through informal evaluation via Zoom polling. Information will be aided with visuals provided via a PPT slide deck. Specific names of medication classes, including but not limited to selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs), benzodiazepines, GABA analogues, antihistamines, norepinephrine and dopamine reuptake inhibitors, and alpha-2 agonists and their mechanisms of action will be discussed. Moreover, psychosocial interventions will be elaborated to enhance understanding and expectations for these specific treatment environments.
