A Recipe for Readers: Overcoming Anxiety and Encouraging Excitement
-----
Schools around the world recognise the importance of using graded readers in class. There is, however, a strong need for teachers to understand how to best use these materials. Beginning with why we want students to read for pleasure,
this webinar will cover the importance of teacher preparation, extended warmups, model plans for using graded readers and how to engage students with story characters and moral dilemmas. As author of the interactive ‘Maze
Stories’ adventure series, Gavin Biggs will show how to use graded readers to create a real sense of excitement in class. Furthermore, he will look at practical ways to help students feel confident and prepared when reading for pleasure.
