Join attorney Colleen Bratkovich and guest speaker, Dan Bekavac from Bekavac Funeral Home, for a discussion of the different types of VA Benefits available to veterans and their surviving spouses, including caregiver support, long term care and VA Burial Benefits. Dan Bekavac will explain the mechanics of what goes into a prearranged funeral, how to ensure irrevocability, and the mechanics of how funeral directors hold money for a prepaid funeral. He will end the discussion with a discussion of VA Funeral benefits, including financial benefits, burial flag and marker and available funeral benefits for disabled vets.

Colleen is admitted to practice law in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and before the Pennsylvania Supreme Court. She is also accredited by the Veteran’s Administration to represent Veterans in their claims before the Department. Prior to her legal education Colleen worked at St. Francis Hospital in Pittsburgh and Three Rivers Health Plans in Monroeville, now part of United Health Plans. Colleen is a frequent lecturer on Elder Law topics and has taught various seminars including continuing education classes for lawyers, accountants and nursing home administrators. Colleen enjoys speaking to community groups around the Pittsburgh area and can be heard broadcasting for Pittsburgh Elder Law on KDKA 1020 AM at 12:00 noon on the 2nd and 4th Saturdays of each month.
