U=U: Empowering Patients and Providers to End the Epidemic (Alive MD)

U=U, or "Undetectable = Untransmittable," has revolutionized the HIV and sexual health landscapes in recent years. The fundamental idea behind U=U is that individuals with an undetectable viral load in their blood cannot transmit HIV to their partners. This scientifically sound concept is supported by preeminent health organizations like the National Institutes for Health and the World Health Organization, and is rooted in the Treatment as Prevention (TasP) model. This model has proven that undetectable viral loads can be achieved through antiretroviral therapy (ART) and that someone with an undetectable viral load cannot transmit the virus. U=U is a game-changer for empowering people living with HIV and a key tool in Ending the HIV Epidemic.

This webinar will provide an overview of the basics of U=U, including clinical evidence and implications, and will train providers on how to integrate U=U into their practice. The webinar will also address possible challenges providers may face in doing so, as well as best practices for engaging clients in U=U's message.

Upon completion of this activity, participants will be able to:

-Explain the meaning of U=U and its importance.
-Identify the steps providers can take to integrate U=U into their practice.
-Describe the benefits of implementing U=U.
-Identify potential challenges in implementing U=U and some strategies to address them.
-Describe U=U best practices for providers.
