Climate and Human Rights: Building Resilience for Business | Vulnerable Communities, Vulnerable Businesses
Many people experience aggravated impacts of climate change and biodiversity loss on the grounds of gender, age, or membership of an indigenous community. Barriers faced by these people limit their capacity to adapt to climate change. By adequately investing in these communities, companies can develop a market that supports a resilient environment which opens new business opportunities for everyone. Businesses should not only “do no harm” but go beyond this and “do better” by positively contributing to the development of the area in question.

This session will feature interventions from those with lived experience of aggravated impacts of climate change and biodiversity loss on the grounds of gender, age, or membership of an indigenous community. It will showcase case studies in which the private sector has effectively engaged with those most vulnerable through inclusive and participatory development approaches. The session will also explore how partnerships with communities can support the effective implementation of nature-based solutions.
