Megan is also actively involved in launching start-up companies and fostering collaborations between partner institutions and third-party collaborators. Megan is a strong advocate for equity, accessibility, and bringing awareness of different needs to light, so people can form closer, stronger connections and improve communication and social engagement. She currently serves as Co-Programming chair for the AUTM Central Region Meeting and Past-Chair for AUTM's EDI Committee, to help enhance EDI education within the technology transfer community. Megan also serves as one of the six co-founders for GEDITT – an organization dedicated to Global Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion in Technology Transfer. Latane Brackett (Principal Manager of Innovation Programs @The National GEM Consortium) Latane partners with the National Innovation Network to create pathways for graduate research Fellows to pursue entrepreneurial pathways. He served as a highly accomplished Supply Chain/Manufacturing Operations Executive developing future leaders, creating performance cultures, and driving sustainable productivity. He has 30 years of experience in the pharmaceutical and food manufacturing industries working as a corporate engineer, plant manager, director of operations, and vice president of supply chain and operations. Latane also served as Executive Director of Student Affairs at Tennessee State University. Anne-Marie Maman (Executive Director of the Princeton Entrepreneur Council (PEC) @Princeton University) As Executive Director of the PEC, Anne-Marie has been responsible for driving changes to Princeton’s entrepreneurial ecosystem, developing programs designed to meet the needs of faculty, grad students, and alumni entrepreneurs. She started her career focusing on early customer discovery and product/market fit for cutting edge technologies within large healthcare companies (Johnson&Johnson as they launched the world’s first intravascular stents, US Surgical (now Tyco) as they developed and launched the first beating heart surgery system, Genzyme (now Sanofi) as they developed a minimally invasive heart valve system and a minimally invasive heart blood pump system). Her passion for creating and introducing new medical inventions that improve patient care brought her into startups, as the first employee at Axya Medical, developing automated suturing for both open and minimally invasive surgeries. She then founded three medical technology companies: LumenVu, PhOx Diagnostics, and Oxygense. Nichole Mercier (Assistant Vice Chancellor & Managing Director @Washington University in St. Louis) Dr. Mercier sets the strategy for technology transfer at WashU and oversees all operations relating to the licensing and protection of intellectual property assets. In addition to her licensing background, she is committed to ensuring that women and minorities engage in technology transfer and entrepreneurship. She established the Women in Innovation and Technology (WIT) Program at WashU and a national program called Equalize where academic women are matched one-to-one with mentors prior to pitch day. Before joining WashU, she worked as a licensing associate for Boston Children’s Hospital’s Intellectual Property Office and received her PhD in Cell Biology from the University of Massachusetts Medical School. Dr. Mercier serves on several not-for-profit boards including Academic Venture Exchange, Midwest Research University Network, and the Balsa Group.
