After 20 months of no international travel, Rick enjoyed two trips to Europe this fall. On this special edition of Monday Night Travel, he reports on the reality of what it’s like to travel in Europe now. First, he shares his six day, 60-mile hike around Mont Blanc on the venerable Tour du Mont Blanc. Then he leads a “guides’ mentoring tour” through Rome, Volterra, Cinque Terre, and Florence, teaching his newest guides what it takes to be a Rick Steves tour guide. Finally Rick meets up with his TV crew and spends 12 days in Florence, Rome, and Athens to finish filming his upcoming six-hour, public television special on European Art and Architecture. Stow away with Rick and get a peek into his work as Rick Steves’ Europe prepares for post-pandemic travels. Tonight Rick will be sipping a nice Italian red wine and munching on his favorite bruschetta.
