As CSW69 reviews progress on the Beijing Declaration and its role in the 2030 Agenda, this session will examine how austerity-driven policies imposed by the IMF and World Bank exacerbate gender inequality. Cuts to healthcare, education, and social protections deepen precarity, reinforce unpaid care burdens, and disproportionately impact women and marginalized groups. Bringing together feminist activists and researchers from MENA, Latin America, and Africa, this session will critically assess austerity’s impact on gender justice and explore feminist economic alternatives that prioritize care, sustainability, and equity. It will advocate for policy shifts aligned with CSW’s commitment to gender-responsive economic transformation.
