In April, 2020, the Japanese Design Law was largely revised to enable graphical user interfaces (GUIs) to be registered independently of articles. Mr. Tomohiro Gyoda, a patent and trademark attorney, will explain the design practice for GUIs based on his rich experience with GUI designs and analysis of GUI designs registered after the revision. The topics of the webinar will be as follows:
1. Available Options for Registering GUIs under the Design Law
2. Specifications and Drawings
3. Comparison of Options in Terms of Enforcement
4. Preparing Priority Applications and Claiming Priority
