Quick PD: Volcanoes and Magmatism
Not all volcanoes are the same, and a number of factors contribute to the size, shape, and eruption style of different volcanoes. Different tectonic settings influence magma sources, physical properties of magma, and geochemistry of magmas. Here we will explore where magma is generated, how it moves through the crust, how it changes over time, and what happens if it does or doesn’t erupt. We also take a look at some ancient and more recent examples of magmatism and volcanism in eastern Australia and how it has affected our local landscapes.

This PD will take no more than 30-40 minutes of your time. Extra time for Q&A can follow as required.
