Dr. Andrew Sauer

Dr. Andrew J. Sauer is a cardiologist at Saint Luke’s Mid America Heart Institute and an associate professor of cardiovascular medicine at the University of Missouri-Kansas City. He has co-founded and directed many programs intersecting with heart failure, mechanical circulatory support, and heart transplantation. Originally from Nebraska, he trained at Harvard/MGH and Northwestern where he began faculty appointment, shortly after which he was recruited to Kansas City where he has served the population for nearly eight years. His current research and innovation interests include telemedicine, remote monitoring, digital health technology, cardiometabolic therapies, program building, and leadership. He also enjoys discussing wellness in the context of being a father for three children.
Dr. Meghan Reading Turchioe

Meghan Reading Turchioe, PhD, MPH, RN, is an Assistant Professor at Columbia University School of Nursing. Her NIH-funded program of research involves developing and implementing digital health technologies to support the management of chronic cardiovascular conditions, with a special focus on implementation science and data visualization of patient health information.
Dr. Harriette Van Spall

Dr. Van Spall is a cardiologist, data scientist, and clinical trialist, with expertise in heart failure, health research methods, and implementation science. She is a primary research supervisor and mentor to several postgraduate fellows, graduate students, and medical residents. Her research is funded by the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR), the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada, and Ontario's Ministry of Health and Long Term Care. She has garnered more than $5.0 million in research funding, has won several research awards, and has published her work in high-impact medical journals, including JAMA, Lancet, Circulation, JACC, European Heart Journal, and Annals of Internal Medicine.

Larry Allen grew up in Morrison, Colorado, and then attended the University of Colorado Boulder. After a stint in Peace Corps Ghana followed by work at the Boettcher Foundation, he did his training at Harvard, MGH, and Duke. In 2008 he returned to Colorado to join the CU Advanced Heart Failure and Transplant Program. He is currently interim Head for Cardiology, is co-Director for the Colorado Program for Patient Centered Decisions, is upcoming Chair for the Clinical Cardiology Council of the American Heart Association, and has been a 5280 Top Doctor for 10+ years in a row.
