Description
Acclaimed British author and educator Ben M. Freeman will present a groundbreaking talk on "Building Jewish Pride and Recognizing Jewish Indigeneity" on January 12, 2025. This event marks the culmination of Freeman's much praised Jewish Pride trilogy and introduces his latest work, "The Jews: An Indigenous People." Freeman, founder of the modern Jewish Pride movement, will explore the deep-rooted connection between the Jewish people and the Land of Israel. His presentation will review 3,000 years of Jewish history, examining the origins of Jewish expression and its enduring impact on modern times. Inspired by the gay pride movement, Freeman, who is a gay Jew, draws parallels between Jewish pride and gay pride, as both movements emphasize liberation and self-acceptance. He asserts that Jewish pride is essential for combating antisemitism, enabling Jews to reclaim their story and cultivate a positive identity rooted in Jewish history and values. In his forthcoming book, set for release in February 2025, Freeman boldly affirms that Jews are unequivocally indigenous to Israel expertly navigating anthropology, archaeology, and globally recognized criteria for indigeneity to support this assertion. As a respected voice in combating Jew-hatred and promoting Jewish identity, Freeman's work has earned him recognition as a Diplomat for the World Jewish Congress and a Research Fellow for the Institute for the Study of Global Antisemitism Policy. His previous books, "Jewish Pride: Rebuilding a People" and "Reclaiming Our Story: The Pursuit of Jewish Pride," have revolutionized conversations about Jewish identity and pride. Freeman is a columnist for the Jerusalem Post, a Jewish Diplomat for the World Jewish Congress and a Research Fellow for the Institute for the Study of Global Antisemitism Policy. He was voted number 8 on the inaugural 25 Young ViZionaries list by JNF-USA and the Jerusalem Post.
