This webinar is presented by ACDS in partnership with the Calgary Outlink Center for Gender and Sexual Diversity.
In context, one of the indicators in the new CET standards, speaks to supporting individuals, their wants and needs, in the areas of gender, gender identity and sexual orientation. This webinar is a great way service providers can get introduced to this important and sensitive aspect of support.
About the Webinar Session:
In this 2 hour workshop on gender and sexual diversity and inclusion facilitated by Calgary Outlink, participants will gain deeper knowledge and understanding of 2SLGBTQ+ identities and experiences as well as tools to create safer, more inclusive, welcoming spaces in their work and their lives.
Participants can expect to gain insight into the following:
- core vocabulary and how to use language that is inclusive and respectful
- assumptions, myths, and facts
- how to create safer, more inclusive, welcoming spaces
The session will be facilitated by Emma Ladouceur, Director of Operations and Development at the Calgary Outlink. An artist, organizer, and change maker passionate about building community, sharing food, and crying in public, Emma brings extensive background in queer, feminist, and social justice focused nonprofits and grassroots initiatives to her work at Calgary Outlink. She also brings a lifetime of love and rage to her ongoing commitment to learning, growing, and doing better each day. For all her other efforts, Emma’s only real goals are to befriend all the cats in her neighborhood and to one day return to the forest where she belongs.
Attendees will be able to engage in a Q&A session with the facilitator.
