Description
Scott Warner, Conservation Associate and Botanist with Michigan Natural Features Inventory, will discuss the wetland flora of Hiawatha National Forest based on his 2024 field season.
In a given stand, you never know what you'll get. It could be a quality swamp supporting species like Cypripedium reginae, Valeriana uliginosa, and Carex vaginata, or a cutover stand with Cirsium palustre, Phalaris arundinacea, and Frangula alnus. Still, throughout the field season, captivating natural communities are sure to be encountered. – Scott
Scott will highlight charismatic flora like orchids and discuss tips and tricks for identifying challenging taxa like Carex spp.
