Topic 6, Part 1: Addressing Disinvestment, Gentrification, and Displacement
Our Community of Practice on Homelessness regularly brings together 100+ community, institutional and corporate leaders who may not typically work with one another. Designed to build strategic alliances, these conversations are helpful in ending homelessness and addressing disparities amplified by the COVID-19 pandemic.
ON DECEMBER 2, join panelists Rev. Dr. Derrick Harkins, Director of U.S. Housing and Urban Development Center for Faith-based and Neighborhood Partnerships, Alice Kennedy, Commissioner of Baltimore City Department of Housing and Community Development, Nick Mosby, Baltimore City Council President, Cheryl Washington, Esq., President and CEO of East Baltimore Development Incorporation, and moderator Kevin Lindamood, President and CEO of Health Care for the Homeless.
Together we'll briefly assess and explain how past and current inequitable policies and practices have led to and continue to exacerbate disinvestment, gentrification, and displacement (especially among individuals experiencing homelessness), gain tangible tools to address each of our contributions to the aforementioned realities and promote equity and access for distressed communities.
