Mindfulness and Meditation with OMS
Description
Join us for the next session in the Finding Hope with OMS 10th Anniversary edition, where we shall be looking at how to manage stress through Mindfulness and Meditation.
Our guest presenter for the session will be Phil Startin, who will lead us through the benefits of mindfulness and meditation and living well with MS including tips for establishing and sustaining a meditation practice.
We know from our Engagement Survey in 2021, that over a third of our OMS Community find making time for meditation one of their biggest challenges. Phil will discuss how the practice of meditation supports the OMS program contributing to stress reduction and improving quality of life, as well as offering the opportunity to practice meditating together.
There will be a Question and Answer session during the webinar and the session will also be recorded and made available to all that register for the event.

After a DPhil in Quantum Physics, he left his academic roots for a more peripatetic career in management consulting, initially with Price Waterhouse. After years travelling around the world for both work and pleasure, including a two-year assignment in Geneva, he was diagnosed with PPMS in 2007. Phil discovered Overcoming MS in 2011, and coupled with his earlier discovery of mindfulness meditation, awakened a whole new area in his life. With training and supervision from Bangor University, he now teaches the eight-week mindfulness-based stress reduction (MBSR) course to people with MS and to the general community on a pro-bono basis, and delivers the mind-body component of the OMS UK retreats. He is a trustee for MS-UK and wrote an article on the first UK OMS Retreat in 2013, which he attended, for their New Pathways magazine.
