Policy makers and industry stakeholders from Europe and Japan will discuss IoT security standardization and certification work, from baseline to vertical-specific requirements.

This workshop will be co-chaired by the European Commission's Directorate General for Communications Networks, Content and Technology (EC DG CONNECT) and the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communication of Japan (MIC), with the participation of the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry of Japan (METI). It is organized by InDiCo - ICT Standards, a program funded by the EU and implemented by ETSI.

The Internet of Things (IoT) is a driver and an enabler of the digitization of Society. With the deployment of 5G networks, devices and sensors will make our lives increasingly connected, while enabling services such as Smart Cities, Smart Homes, Connected Cars and Industry Automation. Developed in heterogeneous ecosystem, IoT applications and use cases in different vertical industries will raise specific security issues. Defining common approaches for IoT Security standards will contribute to innovation, interoperability of solutions, reliability and speed of adoption of new IoT solutions.
