History of Steamboats & Ferries in Nantucket Sound
Join us for our live webinar series, "A Celebration of Nantucket Sound" (ACONS). Our guest speaker in September is Elizabeth York, the Executive Director of the Cape Cod Maritime Museum in Hyannis.

For this webinar, Elizabeth will speak about steamboats and transportation between the islands of Nantucket and Martha’s Vineyard. Hear about these steamers and ferries—a lifeline for the islands since the early 19th-century—that plied Nantucket Sound, and learn about their engineering and design over the years..

Elizabeth is a graduate of Ithaca College in New York and received her Master's Degree in Museum Studies from John F. Kennedy University in Berkeley, CA. Having grown up in Massachusetts, Elizabeth's life has always been influenced by the water and our oceans. Her role at the Maritime Museum has driven much of her research into the waters of Nantucket Sound.

A live Q&A with Elizabeth and Save Our Sound President Audra Parker will follow the presentation.
