What is the Evidence? A Review of the Latest Research on Selective Mutism Treatments, Mechanisms, and Correlates
For treating professionals, it can sometimes be challenging to stay on top of the latest research in the field, despite best intentions. Journal articles are not always easily accessible, and even when they are available, it can be difficult to carve out time to read them, especially amid myriad other responsibilities. Yet, maintaining awareness of the latest research developments can offer providers important guidance in assessing, conceptualizing, and treating youth with selective mutism, potentially leading to more robust treatment outcomes. Thus, this webinar, hosted by SMA Board Member and child psychologist, Dr. Rachel Merson, will provide an overview of selected selective mutism research, focusing on new treatment outcome studies as well as papers that offer insight into factors that may cause, maintain, and/or be associated with selective mutism. While this webinar will be geared to a professional audience, parents and caretakers of youth with selective mutism may also find it interesting to learn more about recently conducted SM research.
