U.S. and China: The Regulatory Pathway for Alternative Proteins Begins to Unfold (Session 1)
Description
Investments in the alternative protein industry are at an all-time high. While this signals significant interest and opportunities, like any new technology, there will be challenges to overcome. Now is the time to understand how the regulators are responding to these new technologies so that your products can be sold in markets around the world. Even the best tasting foods will not reach the consumers’ table unless it complies with applicable food laws.
This webinar will review some of the regulatory and technical considerations with respect to alternative protein products (focusing on cultured and fermented proteins) in two very important regions: the United States and China. Since Hong Kong has often been used as a spring board by companies holding clearances in other foreign jurisdictions to enter the Asian market, we will explore, through case study, market entry strategies via Hong Kong.
During the webinar, the following topics will be discussed:
a. Regulatory framework of alternative proteins in the U.S.
b. Regulatory framework of alternative proteins in China
c. Technical considerations to support approvals of alternative proteins
d. Case study – selling alternative proteins in Hong Kong
To accommodate audiences in the U.S. and in Asia, there will be two sessions of the webinar: one on Wednesday, November 9 at 9:00 p.m. EST and one on Thursday, November 10 at 9:00 a.m. EST.
