ABOUT THE SESSION Starting June 28, 2025, the European Accessibility Act (EAA) will require ebooks and many other services and products to meet specific accessibility standards to be sold in the European market. Join experts Chris Saynor (EDItEUR) and Wendy Reid (Kobo) as they guide Canadian publishers through the essentials of this new legislation. In this session, they’ll cover the role of metadata and ONIX in compliance, explore key accessibility standards and resources developed by the W3C, and share how Kobo is preparing to align with the EAA. SPEAKERS Chris Saynor (EDItEUR) Wendy Reid (Rakuten Kobo) Stephanie Small (BookNet Canada) ACCESSIBILITY INFORMATION This session will run for 1 hour. The session will be hosted on Zoom. Sign language interpretation and closed captioning will be available. You can turn on closed captioning by clicking on the Show Captions button in the menu bar. Cameras and microphones will be off for attendees attending this session. However, the session may use the Zoom polling, chat, and Q&A. There will be someone monitoring the Zoom chat and Q&A if you have any questions or problems during the session. This session will be recorded.
