Peer Review Week: How to Create and Support Public Trust in Research
Handling research integrity issues is a major challenge for publishers. Yet developing and maintaining strong policies is increasingly important as miscommunication and disinformation threaten to undermine public trust in science. In this Peer Review Week webinar, Dr. Jigisha Patel from the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) Council will walk attendees through COPE resources to help develop research integrity policies. Heather Tierney, Senior Publication Ethics Manager at the American Chemical Society, will describe how her office manages integrity cases on a regular basis. Finally, Lauran Qualkenbush, Senior Director for Research Integrity and Training at Northwestern University and President of the Association of Research Integrity Officers (ARIO), will explain best practices for working with institutional research integrity officers, so you know what to do if you need to notify an institution regarding major misconduct.
