The school bus driver shortage has shifted the conversation on routing technology: it is no longer a luxury. It’s a necessity.
The national school bus driver shortage has become mainstream news as it touches small and large, rural, urban and suburban districts alike. One national survey found more than half of transportation leaders (51 percent) say their driver shortage is either “severe” or “desperate.” And 78 percent of respondents said it’s getting worse.
In fact, the driver shortage is now the No. 1 concern to 65 percent of those surveyed by the National Association for Pupil Transportation (NAPT), the National Association of State Directors of Pupil Transportation Services (NASDPTS), and the National School Transportation Association (NSTA).
It's so bad that in Massachusetts the governor called in the National Guard to drive buses.
Of course, none of this is new to you if you are in school transportation. But what may be new is how Transfinder’s routing technology and expert consulting services can help you tackle this driver shortage head on. We can’t necessarily help you find drivers, but we can play a critical role in reducing the number of drivers needed without impacting the safety and efficiency of your operation.
Whether you’re a large district or a small one, our technology can be your partner in solving the driver shortage.
Join us on Thursday, Oct. 14 as we hear from schools large and small about how Transfinder’s technology played a critical role in solving their driver shortage issues.
