Inviting Beneficial Insects to Your Garden
Among the more than 28,000 species of insects in the Pacific Northwest, fewer than two percent damage crops, plants or structures. The majority is beneficial and helps the home gardener with controlling garden pests or pollinating fruits and vegetables.

This session will review the types of beneficial insects that may be in your garden, how they hunt, attack, kill and eat as well as how they pollinate your vegetables or flowers. We will share ideas for attracting and keeping beneficial insects in your garden.

Our speaker Cheryl Borden is an Oregon State University Extension Master Gardener who teaches for the award-winning 10-Minute University Program. Cheryl is active in the OSU Extension Helpline which answers gardening questions by phone and via email. Cheryl gardens at home and manages the Pollinator Garden at Mary S. Young State Park.
