Title: Implicit Bias in the Workplace: How to Surface Biases and Foster Greater Objectivity

Presenter: Abu Ibrahim, LAT, ATC, CSCS

Abstract: Implicit bias involve associations outside of our conscious awareness which lead to negative evaluation of person(s) due to irrelevant characteristics such as race or gender. By becoming aware of these biases and by learning strategies to combat them, we can help to deliver better care and outcomes for our patients

Learning Objectives: At the conclusion of this presentation, participants will be able to:
1. Understand the nature and origins of implicit bias
2. Recognize the ways that implicit bias can lead to unfair or harmful decisions and actions in the workplace.
3. Identify ways to effectively address situations where implicit bias has had a negative impact.
4. Discover strategies to ensure decisions and actions are equitable and objective.
