Hosting an event with food on your farm is a great way to gather your community, educate the public about farming, and grow your business. Join this webinar to learn about next steps to safely and legally offer samples, host a tasting, farm to table meal, or other event with food on your farm. During the session we will hear from Corie Pierce, owner of Bread and Butter Farm in Shelburne, Vermont and regular host of burger nights. We will also hear from Andrew Marchev, Legal Fellow at the Center for Agriculture and Food Systems and Lisa Chase, Agritourism Expert at University of Vermont Extension.

Dr. Lisa Chase is the Director of the Vermont Tourism Research Center and Extension Professor at the University of Vermont. Her research and outreach focus on the intersection of food systems, community vitality, tourism, and working landscapes. For over 20 years, she has worked with entrepreneurs, communities, farmers, and tourism businesses in Vermont and around the globe. Before moving to Vermont, Dr. Chase conducted research and outreach in New York, Colorado, Costa Rica and Ecuador, among other places. In her spare time, she enjoys hiking, skiing, and eating her way around Vermont and other world-class destinations.

Andrew Marchev is a Fellow with the Vermont Legal Food Hub (Hub), a collaboration between the Center for Agriculture and Food Systems (CAFS) at Vermont Law School and Conservation Law Foundation. Andrew received his B.A. from Warren Wilson College, and his J.D. from Vermont Law School. Andrew worked in general practice at Phillips Dunn Shriver & Carroll in Brattleboro before striking out on his own to establish a solo practice in Montpelier with an agricultural focus. Andrew still practices part time, and has assisted farmers in lease negotiations, transitioning their business to the next generation, estate planning, probate administration and business entity formation. His dream is to have a little farm of his own and a thriving agricultural law practice.

Corie is the owner of Bread & Butter Farm and wears all hats on the farm. When she began farming as a 14 year old in NH, she almost instantly envisioned a program like Village School. She felt like farming and learning about how nature and growing food intersect was one of the most important things we could learn as humans. Corie has worked to build a farm that includes people of all ages to learn, teach, and engage in how we steward this beautiful land and grow and raise delicious, healthy food.
