Date & Time

Selected Sessions:

Feb 9, 2024 03:00 AM

Description
For signatories of ANZCCART’s Australia and New Zealand Openness Agreements on Animal Research and Teaching, and those still considering signing up. This webinar includes ideas for getting started, what to expect, the support and advice available. Although they are not requirement under the openness agreements, many organisations aspire to holding animal facility tours as part of their commitment to openness. Establishing animal facility tours can enable engagement with a range of audiences, from employees' friends and family to politicians, journalists and schools. Good animal facility tours are an important way to allow others to see that research is being carried out ethically and with compassion. In this session university veterinarian with extensive public engagement experience, Dr Jodi Salinsky will talk about how to develop a facility tour that your institution can be proud of, and will discuss when and why inviting people into animal facilities is a good idea, and when to take a different approach. This webinar will be live at the time stated, and the session recording will be available to all for 72 hours after the end of the webinar. You will need to register to view the recording. All past webinars are available to UAR Oceania members through the video portal. If you work for a member organisation and are unsure how to access these, contact Bella.
