Money Matters: Analysing the impacts of anti-trafficking funding
Date & Time
Selected Sessions:
Jan 9, 2025 03:00 PM
Description
Over the past 15 years, the funding for anti-trafficking work has increased enormously.
Governments, supranational organisations, private philanthropies, businesses, and individuals are donating millions of dollars each year for activities ranging from victim assistance to research and networking. But how much of this funding is reaching survivors, at-risk groups, and frontline organisations, and how much is spent on intermediaries and bureaucracies? Is anti-trafficking funding helping to empower survivors and address the socioeconomic conditions that enable exploitation, or does it also have harmful consequences for those it’s supposed to benefit?
The Global Alliance Against Traffic in Women and the Freedom Collaborative – two leading global anti-trafficking NGO networks – invite you to join this timely and critical conversation about the availability and impact of anti-trafficking funding. Speakers will present new research published in the journal Anti-Trafficking Review and reflect on the experiences of frontline service providers with anti-trafficking donors and funding.
