Dr. Aaron Flagg
Chair and Associate Director of Juilliard Jazz Studies @The Juilliard School
Aaron A. Flagg is the Chair and Associate Director of Juilliard Jazz Studies at The Juilliard School where he teaches and manages a highly selective and undergraduate and graduate program. He holds undergraduate and graduate degrees from The Juilliard School and earned his Doctor of Musical Arts (DMA) from the University of Michigan. He has extensive experience as a performer, educator, consultant, and non-profit executive. Prior to his current role, Dr. Flagg was Professor of Music and Dean of The Hartt School at the University of Hartford; Executive Director of the Music Conservatory of Westchester; and Director of the Jazz Studies program at the University of Connecticut. He has served on the governing board of the Stamford Symphony Orchestra, and currently serves on the governing boards of the League of American Orchestras and the Strategic National Arts Alumni Project (SNAAP): In 2021, he was approved by the State Senate to be a member of the New York State Council on the Arts.
