Why is Data Integration so Difficult?
Data integration involves combining data from varying sources to provide users with a unified, single view. This presents many challenges to Enterprise Architects as data issues can be complex and difficult to understand in terms of both the business context and the value of the data.

At this month’s EA Forum Webinar, Dr Chris Harding will explore the data integration context including why data is integrated, what kind of data is integrated, and he will look at the pain points and issues. In addition, Chis will review the developments in data integration practices and technology, including Data Virtualisation, Data Fabric, Data Mesh, and Data Platforms.

As part of this presentation, Chris will also touch on how The Open Group standards; TOGAF, the O-AA (Open Agile Architecture), and the DPBok (Digital Practitioners’ Body of Knowledge) can help and support architects engaged in data integration projects.

Dr Chris Harding is the founder and principal of Lacibus Ltd which provides services based on virtual data lakes and data-centred architecture. Previous to this, Chris was the Director of the Open Platform 3.0 Forum of The Open Group where he worked for many years. Prior to The Open Group, he was an IT communications consultant, and a software engineer. Chris has a PhD in mathematical logic, and a BA in mathematics.
