Thursday, November 18th at 7:00 Massanutten Regional Library, your Personal Telescope to the Universe, will virtually host Dr. Yao-Lun Yang from the University of Virginia to talk about the importance of the James Webb Telescope. Webb is NASA’s ambitious scientific endeavor to reveal the hidden universe to our eyes using infrared technology: stars shrouded in clouds of dust, water in the atmospheres of other worlds, and light from the first galaxies ever formed. In particular, Dr. Yang will talk about how he will use Webb to study the history of organic matter all the way back to the time when a Sun-like star was just born. Scheduled for launch in December 2021, Webb will be the largest, most powerful and complex space telescope ever built and launched into space.
